Breakfast Grits are creamy, warm cornmeal porridge often served with butter, cheese, or savory toppings like bacon and eggs. A Southern classic, they’re hearty and comforting to start the day.

Ingredients
- 4 cups chicken stock
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup stone-ground grits
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 7 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
- 1/2 jalapeno, finely diced
- 4 ounces mascarpone cheese, softened
- 1 cup grated cheddar
Directions
- Put the chicken stock and butter in a medium pot over medium-high heat and bring to a boil. Add the grits, stir, cover and reduce the heat to low. Cook for 15 minutes, then add the cream. Stir and cook for 10 more minutes. Stir in the bacon and jalapenos. Simmer until the grits are done, about 10 minutes more. Stir in the mascarpone and Cheddar.
