G ma s Rice

A nostalgic, family-style rice recipe passed down through generations, often including butter, broth, and a simple seasoning blend.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 2 cups long grain white rice
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper 1 teaspoon ground cumin 4 cups water

Directions

  1. In a medium saucepan, heat vegetable oil over medium heat.
  2. Brown the rice in the oil until there is a golden texture, stirring frequently. Reduce heat to low, and stir in tomato sauce, garlic, salt, pepper, and cumin. Stir in water. Cover, and cook for about 20 minutes.
